-
- UPDATE INFORMATION FOR VERSION 1.65
-
- Several slight changes have been made to the new version 1.65 of
- the I'M NO ACCOUNTANT (TM) templates:
-
- * The templates now conform to ASP standards.
-
- * The sign-on delay has been shortened from 15 seconds to 2 seconds.
- The program pauses one second at the ASP screen and one second at
- the liability screen. The user must press the ENTER key to
- proceed beyond the copyright screen.
-
- * The shareware version contains JOUR1, the single business
- template, and now also JOUR10, the template for up to 10
- businesses with one checking account. However, the
- addition of the business number for keeping track of various
- businesses with one checking account requires that you enter
- additional information. For the fastest operation, use JOUR1.WK1
- for your accounting needs.
-
- * TRANSACTION PAYMENT: After the first check number is entered, the
- number is stored. On following payment screens, the check number
- field is automatically filled with the next consecutive check
- number. Overwrite the field if necessary. Enter a single quote
- mark (') for a non-check transaction. Also, if you want to
- include a voided check, just enter the check number and then a 0
- in the amount field.
-
- * TRANSACTION SALARY: The salary option can also be used for
- commissions. It may be helpful to use the employee first or last
- name rather than the social security number as the employee ID.
- For each employee ID, the EXTRACT INPUT command can be used to
- generate annual or monthly summaries. Salaries or commissions are
- not associated with a business number in JOUR10.
-
- * TRANSACTION RECONCILE: After reconciling the bank statement with
- the deposits and expenses, the current bank balance will be shown
- on the reconciliation screen, even when there are no outstanding
- checks.
-
- * TRANSACTION BOTTOM: A new command "BOTTOM" has been added to the
- transaction menu. Selection of this command positions the
- spreadsheet at the bottom of the transaction journal, in the
- column showing the current bank balance.
-
- * JOURNAL BALANCE: If unknown account numbers are found while
- trying to balance the accounts, they will be displayed at the
- bottom of the screen. If there are more than two, enter the 1-2-3
- READY mode to view the next page down. This routine will also
- list labels, which are assumed to be employee names. All employee
- names and unknown account numbers will be printed with the
- printout commands. The verification screen actively identifies
- mismatched account balances.
-
- * JOURNAL MODIFY EXPENSE and JOURNAL MODIFY INCOME: Account titles
- now appear above account numbers on the input screens. Income
- and expense categories may be numbers or names. The names should
- be single words with 8 or fewer letters.
-
- * JOURNAL CLEAR: Due to several misprints in the manual, it was not
- properly indicated that neither slash (neither / nor \) should be
- used in the business name. If at all possible, include only
- letters and numbers in the business name. This name is used as
- the print title, and some characters have special meaning in the
- LOTUS 1-2-3 macros and print header.
-
- * EXTRACT INPUT: This input screen now allows a starting date and
- an end date to be entered. If left blank, all entries will be
- extracted when there are matching account numbers. If defined, no
- entries will be extracted before the starting date, or after the
- end date.
-
- * QUIT: This command has been slightly modified to give you a
- better prompt. After saving your spreadsheet, a screen will
- indicate to you that to exit 1-2-3, the "Y" key should be pressed;
- otherwise you should press the "N" key followed by pressing the
- ENTER key.
